The County Commissioners have advertised for bids for a gravel road from the Arkansas Bridge north to the Wagoner County line between the Arkansas and Verdigris Rivers. This is a short stretch of road for which $3,000 was raised by private subscription a short time ago and is to connect the Muskogee County road building with that of Wagoner County. The latter county has agreed to build a fine road from Wagoner to the Muskogee County line, and in addition to build a new free bridge across the Verdigris River at the OK Truck plant.
The County Commissioners have also received notice from the State Highway Department that bids will be opened on the first of December fro the contracts on the 87 miles of gravel roads in Muskogee County, the first of the $800,000 road project in this county. These plans cover the Jefferson Highway across Muskogee County north and south and the road from Muskogee west to Boynton and possibly to the Okmulgee County line. The final estimates are being prepared in the county engineer’s office now and will be forwarded to the state highway department as soon as possible.
